NSC sets 2025 NYG motion on. The joint technical meeting was held inside the VIP Longe of the Stephen Keshi Stadium,Asaba,Saturday 9th August,2025. Director General of the National Sports Commission Bukola Olopade was represented by the director,grassroot sports development,chief Amaka Ashiefu as chairman of the occasion. The chairman,DSSC, Mr Onos Oborevbori was represented by the Director General of the state sports commission,Emuobo Egalase. Mr Oborevbore stated that Delta State is ready to host yet another exciting youth games as it has the capacity and facilities to deliver another world class tournament that will make the difference. The DG,ex international volleyball player,AKA the Speaker,said the state under Governor Sheriff Oborevbori was quite keen on developing sports and always ready to host sporting events whenever the need arises. The DSSC boss said,the games would not be able to accommodate deaf sports,beach volleyball,power lifting,baseball and softball,due to the late notification of their federations. But just early Monday morning,the NSC intervene to allow deaf sport,beach volleyball and powerlifting,not having room for baseball and softball.
The National Sports Commission has confirmed the official schedule for the 2025 National Youth Games, as the nation looks up to the much-awaited multi-sport event to be hosted by Delta State.
According to the Commission, the Games will run from August 26 to September 6, 2025, bringing together the best young talents from across the country to compete for glory and honour.
Earliar in the day,officials of the NSC,state directors sports of various federations and officials of the DSSC,including the media, went on inspection tour of facilities and venues,to ascertain their readiness. They visited the ultra modern hockey stadium in Opkanam,the Cenetoph in Asaba,the government house squash court and the Dennis Osadebe University,Anwai road,Asaba.
The Games will start with registration, which will take place from August 12 to 20, 2025, while zonal elimination is billed August 16 to18.
The Pre- Delegation Registration Meeting DRM will follow on August 19 and 20, with the DRM holding from August 21 to 23.The main tournament runs from August 26 to September 6, 2025./SSU
