I find it ridiculous that the Nigeria Football Federation has set up a fact-finding committee to look into the constant dipping of Nigerian football (the NFF said the country’s National Teams in international competitions, with specific attention to the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup finals)
I will say it is not just about the Super Eagles or Super Falcons. It is about the decay in our football architecture. What we are witnessing with the senior teams and underage teams (failures to qualify for major competitions) is just a representation of how low our football has sank in the last 10 years.
Beyond the ridiculousness of the committee and its membership, it is annoying to say the least that the guys running football in Nigeria are tacitly telling us that they don’t know the problems with Nigerian football.
This is not just an admittance of ignorance and knowledge of what it takes to grow Nigerian football, it is the acceptance of failure.
I don’t want to bore myself with the ridiculousness of some members of the committee, but I can tell you for a fact that the latest move by the Ibrahim Gusau led NFF board is a deceptive move to buy time and deflect attention from how far they have destroyed our football.
They are attempting to avoid answering the inevitable questions and taking responsibilities for their failures.
We know how reports of committees are treated and how they end up in the trash bin after few months, this particular committee is to cajole Nigerians into believing that NFF has heard their cries and ready to turn the fortune of football around.
If after 4 years l, Gusau and his clowns are still setting up committees to find out why Nigerian football is where it is today, then we may begin to ask WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS.
SINCE THEY HAVE ADMITTED THAT THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIX NIGERIAN FOOTBALL, THEY NEED TO RESIGN AND LET THOSE WHO KNOW TAKE CHARGE.
