September has always carried two memories for Ajeromi Ifelodun.
There was the September when smoke rose over the Council Secretariat. When over 98 vehicles were burnt and the heart of our local government was set ablaze during the EndSARS debacle. It was a terrible period. A wound that reminded us how quickly peace can be lost.
And then, from that same month, came another September tradition — the Ajegunle Peace Cup.
Born to commemorate that date, the tournament was a promise: that from destruction, we will build community. For years it was sponsored by Hon. Fatai Adekunle Fatai Ayoola Ebie , former Executive Chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA. Under his leadership, the Peace Cup became more than football. It became healing. It became unity on the pitch when tensions were high off it.
Just when many feared the competition was going extinct, new hope arrived.
Hon. Saad Lukman Olumoh, Member representing Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has stepped in to keep the dream alive. And he chose the most fitting date to do it — his 60th birthday.
What better way to mark 60 years of life and service than by investing in the next generation? By putting the ball at the feet of our youths, and peace in the heart of Ajegunle?

We proudly announce the 7th Edition of the Ajegunle Peace Cup — now reborn as the Hon. Olumoh-Ajegunle Peace Cup.
Kickoff: Friday, 3rd October, 2026
Venue: The prestigious Nathaniel Idowu Football Pitch
Seven years after that dark September, we gather again. Not with fire, but with football. Not with anger, but with applause. Not to remember loss alone, but to celebrate what we’ve built since.
This edition is Organised by the Ajeromi Ifelodun Sports Council under the leadership of McAnthony Anaelechukwu — a council committed to using sports as a tool for peace, growth, and pride in our community.
So come one, come all.
