    OYO STATE GOVERNMENT APPROVES CASH REWARDS FOR TEAM OYO ATHLETES

    Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Abiodun Makinde, has approved cash rewards for Team Oyo athletes who represented the state at the National Sports Festival, tagged the Gateway Games, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as well as the National Para Games.

    OyoSportsNews reliably gathered that athletes who won gold medals will receive ₦1.5 million each, while silver and bronze medalists will be rewarded with ₦1 million and ₦750,000, respectively.

    The brief announcement, held today, was attended by representatives of the state’s athletes, directors from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, officials of the Oyo State Sports Council, and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaja Wasilat Adefemi Adegoke.

    The approval is expected to recognise the athletes’ efforts and achievements while encouraging them to continue representing Oyo State with distinction at national and international sporting competitions.
