Nationwide League One side Ben Akwuegbu FC of Jos started their campaign in group A with a slim 2-1 loss to a top-flight bound Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi.
Two quick-fire first half goals from Lewis Dadong appeared to have unsettled Ben Akwuegbu side as the Wikki striker netted in the 22nd and 26th minutes to end the first half 2-0 for the Bauchi team.
However, typical of Ben Akwuegbu FC who are known for their resilience in tough situations never looked like giving up as they kept pushing until they were rewarded with a consolation goal in the 90+2 minutes from Daniel Adoga to make the scoreline more respectable (2-1).
Ben Akwuegbu FC will play two more group stage matches against Si14 FC of Keffi and NPFL side Nasarawa United FC being other members of group A as they fine-tune preparations ahead of NLO season.
