The Convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN) and President of El-Buba Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI), Prophet (Amb.) Isa El-Buba, has called for an urgent moral, spiritual, and political rebirth of Nigeria, declaring that the future of Africa is closely linked to Nigeria’s recovery.

Prophet El-Buba made the call at the “Alone With God” Solution Camp, Pai, in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), during a stakeholders’ conference jointly organised by IBBN, EBOMI, and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Addressing political leaders, faith-based intercessors, civil society actors, and party stakeholders at the event, El-Buba warned that Nigeria had reached a critical point in its national history, stressing that continued delay and inaction could further deepen the country’s crisis.

“Delay at this time is dangerous, silence is complicity, and inaction is betrayal,” he said.

In his opening remarks, the cleric and social activist emphasised that national transformation begins with citizens rather than circumstances.

“Environment does not change people; people change the environment. Whatever happens to a people is ultimately determined by the people themselves,” he stated.

He commended delegates who travelled from different parts of the country to attend the summit, noting that the conference required significant sacrifice and resources.

“If this journey was about comfort or personal gain, I would not be here. There is no greater way to live than to fight for the present and future of a nation,” he said.

El-Buba disclosed that although he belongs to Nigeria’s privileged class, he deliberately chose to identify with the masses, whom he said constitute over 99 percent of the population living in hardship.

“I stepped down from the top of the pyramid to work with those at the bottom,” he added.

He further revealed that he had rejected financial inducements and political settlements from elites seeking his endorsement, insisting that his commitment remained with the Nigerian people.

“I resisted the offers so I could stand with the people and help recover the soul of our nation,” he said.

Taking a continental view, Prophet El-Buba noted that Nigeria’s destiny is inseparable from Africa’s future, adding that the nation’s rebirth would impact not only West Africa but the entire Black race globally.

“Across Africa, nations are watching Nigeria. When Nigeria sneezes, Africa catches cold. Until Nigeria rises, Africa cannot fully rise,” he said, referencing the late South African leader, Nelson Mandela.

The cleric also disclosed that he had held engagements with political leaders in the United States and would soon return for further discussions involving members of the U.S. Congress and other key institutions. He clarified that the engagements were not aimed at fundraising but at building strategic partnerships.

“I am not called to be president, but to midwife the birth of a new Nigeria,” he said.

Describing the nation’s current condition, El-Buba said Nigeria was bleeding economically, morally, spiritually, politically, and through widespread insecurity, attributing the situation to decades of leadership failure, weak institutions, and systemic corruption.

He identified four major challenges confronting the country: economic hardship faced by ordinary citizens, entrenched corruption, moral and spiritual collapse, and political leadership deficit.

According to him, rising crime and social instability are direct consequences of poverty, unemployment, and lack of compassion in governance.

“Corruption is not just stealing money; it is stealing hospitals, classrooms, roads, security, and the future of young people,” he said.

He stressed that elections alone could not rescue Nigeria, calling instead for a restoration of conscience and values.

“Politics alone cannot save Nigeria. What we need is moral rebirth and spiritual awakening,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Prophet El-Buba expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, describing the country as one of the most gifted nations in the world in terms of human and natural resources.

“Nigerians excel globally in technology, business, and innovation. The problem is not the people, but leadership and values,” he noted.

The stakeholders’ summit, which earlier held in Bauchi and continues across geopolitical zones, is part of a broader national movement aimed at mobilising Nigerians toward renewal and restoration.

“This is a defining moment in our national journey. Africa is waiting. History is watching. Nigeria must rise again,” El-Buba declared.

The Francis and Fidelia Ibhawoh Foundation held its annual Award presentation ceremony on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Benin City, celebrating academic excellence and youth empowerment.

This year’s event saw the presentation of scholarship prizes of ₦100,000.00 each to two exceptional law students; Favour Obaseki, a 300-level student of Law at Ambrose Alli University, and Itohan Osemwegie, a 400-level Law student from the University of Benin.

The ceremony was attended by members of the foundation’s governing board, distinguished guests from the academic and legal communities, and other dignitaries. In his remarks, Mr. Gerard Ibhawoh, chairman of the foundation, congratulated the award recipients and urged them to “keep the flag flying,” encouraging them to pursue excellence and integrity in their academic and future professional journeys.

He also highlighted the significant achievements of the foundation’s collaborative engagement with Community Sport and Development (CSED) Initiative, in organizing Netball and Badminton workshops to train teachers and students across various schools in Edo state.

Mr. Ibhawoh also addressed the reduced number of awardees this year, attributing it to a general decline in the quality of essay submissions and the misuse of artificial intelligence by some applicants.

He expressed concern over this growing trend, stating, “while technology is a valuable tool, the over-reliance on AI for academic work, undermines the spirit of original thinking and poses a significant danger to genuine scholarship.”

Also speaking at the event, Prof. (Mrs.) Uyilawa Edosomwan, a member of the foundation’s governing board, charged the awardees to see this recognition as a stepping stone to greater accomplishments.

“Let this moment be the beginning of even greater milestones in your academic and professional lives,” she said.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Francis and Fidelia Ibhawoh Foundation has directly supported over 321 students through scholarships and educational grants, providing access to higher education and enabling them to fulfil their academic potential. In addition, the foundation has empowered 185 individuals through mentorship, vocational training, international exchange programs, and professional development initiatives.

With a strong commitment to education, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, the foundation continues to play a transformative role in improving lives and building stronger communities across Nigeria and beyond.
