Enough has been said; it is time for action. Critical stakeholders in Nigeria football are currently making wide consultations to embark on a peaceful protest march across major cities in Nigeria. This march aims to draw the attention of the Federal Government to save our football and protect the future of Nigerian youths.
OUR DEMANDS
1. Immediate resignation of the Ibrahim Gusau–led illegal Board.
2. Enforcement of the judgment in Suit No: CA/ABJ/PRE/ROA/CV/1006M1/2022 of the Court of Appeal.
3. Probe into the rot and financial scandals in Nigeria football from September 30th to date, including funds from FIFA, CAF, sponsorships, and appropriations from the National Assembly through the Federation Account.
4. Enquiry into the abysmal failure of Nigeria football from September 30th, 2014 to date, including circumstances leading to the back-to-back failure to qualify for the 2015 and 2017 AFCON tournaments, the back-to-back failure to qualify for the 2022 and 2026 World Cup, and the woeful performance of all age-grade national teams.
5. Immediate payment of all outstanding unpaid allowances and match bonuses of all categories of the national teams from 2019 to date.
6. Immediate constitution of the National Sports Commission Board.
7. Comprehensive reforms and total restructuring to restore Nigeria football to even keel.
The planned peaceful protest march is in line with the relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). This peaceful protest is completely devoid of politics; it is strictly to protect the interests of Nigerian youths whose future is being destroyed by a particular clique that has hijacked Nigeria football for personal gain.
The protest will commence soon, starting from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
