The former President of the National Association of Nigeria footballers Part of body which now formed the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Prince Harrison Jalla, has threatened legal action against Delta Broadcasting Service, Warri, over a defamatory report by one of their sports reporters/correspondents, Mr. Azuka Chiemeka.
Harrison Jalla, writing through his solicitors, R.V. Baribote Law Practice (Debeez Chambers), has demanded a retraction, public apology, and compensation to the tune of ₦20,000,000 (Twenty Million Naira) over the said publication. He stated that the report was not only false but also injurious and defamatory to his person, hence the intended legal action.
The law firm stated that the publication falsely alleged, among other things, that Prince Harrison Jalla had filed corruption charges against Amaju Pinnick, which were dismissed by the courts and law enforcement agencies. It also claimed that a personal falling out over a denied contract from Amaju Pinnick to Jalla motivated his actions.
The law firm further clarified that all the above allegations are patently false, as the matters between Amaju Pinnick and Harrison Jalla are still ongoing in court. Furthermore, at no time did Prince Harrison Jalla approach Mr. Amaju Pinnick for a contract of any sort.
According to the law firm, the said publication has caused grave reputational damage, public embarrassment, and emotional distress to their client, including professional setbacks and insinuations painting him as dishonest.
The law firm has therefore demanded, within seven (7) days from the date of the said letter (3rd August 2025), that Delta Broadcasting Service:
1. Issue a retraction of the said publication across all DBS platforms, including their online channels.
2. Broadcast a public apology to the same audience, with equal prominence and repetition as the defamatory report.
3. Pay the sum of ₦20,000,000 (Twenty Million Naira) to their client by way of compensation for libel and reputational injury.
Failure to comply, they warned, shall compel the legal firm to pursue appropriate legal redress against the organization and the said sports reporter/correspondent.
