Ajeromi-Ifelodun recorded yet another moment of pride and inspiration as Miss Nancy Etuk, a brilliant and determined young athlete from Alhaji Yusuf Street, in the Ward H area of the Local Government, emerged 1st place winner at the 3km Lagos Kids Mini-Marathon 2025, triumphing over more than 1,500 participants from across Lagos State.
The competition, held over the weekend at Orange Island, Lekki, showcased Lagos’ future sporting talents — but it was Ajegunle’s very own Nancy who stole the spotlight, carrying the spirit, energy, and resilience of our people across the finish line.
In recognition of her exceptional feat, the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, hosted the young champion in his office yesterday, alongside the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Youth Chapter Coordinator, Comr. Isaac Omoyele Success.
In his glowing remarks, the Chairman praised Nancy for bringing honour to the entire Ajegunle community:
“You have made Ajegunle proud. Do not leave sports — this is a clear sign of your path to greatness. Equally, stay committed to your education, because with discipline and focus, the sky will not just be your limit but your starting point.”
To further encourage her journey, Hon. Akindipe awarded Nancy ₦100,000 in personal support in addition to her ₦50,000 first-place prize, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth development, talent promotion, and empowerment at the grassroots.
Miss Etuk, a pupil of My DreamStead School, stands today as a symbol of the new Ajegunle the Chairman is building — a community where the dreams of young people are not only noticed but nurtured, supported, and celebrated.
Her victory is a testament to the fact that the LampHolder administration is championing a new era where every child, every talent, and every ambition in Ajeromi-Ifelodun is given the room to shine.
