NSC Leadership Reaffirms Inclusion of 14 Constituencies in All Sports Federations boards

The Leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) has restated its firm commitment to ensuring that the 14 recognized constituencies are fully represented on the boards of all sports federations in Nigeria.

This assurance follows consultations with key stakeholders ahead of the forthcoming National Sports Federations elections. The NSC emphasized that the democratic structure of sports administration in Nigeria is anchored on inclusivity, fairness, and transparency, and therefore, no constituency will be disenfranchised in the composition of federation boards.

The Commission reaffirmed that these constituencies are indispensable pillars for the growth and governance of Nigerian sports, and their voices must be heard in decision-making at the highest level.

These 14(fourteen) constituencies include zonal representatives 6(six) from the geopolitical zones of the country, 1(one) athlete representative, 1(one) Technical representative and 1(one) Military/Paramilitary Representative

Others Include; 1(one) NAWIS representative, 1(one) NAPHER- SD representative, 1(one) sponsor and 1(one) AFFAN representative.

The Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade said “the strength of our sports Federations lies in representation. We want to therefore make it categorically clear that none of the 14 constituencies will be excluded from participating in the governance structure of any federation. Inclusiveness remains non-negotiable.”

The NSC, therefore, calls on Gymnastics, Judo, and Shooting Federations to get set for October 18, 2025 elections in Abuja.

While Judo and Gymnastics will do their zonal elections before the National elections, Shooting federation will go on to elect their President and Vice president respectively, having already concluded their zonal elections.
