Lagos, Nigeria — July 8, 2025 — Nigerian cue sports champion Shehu Bamidele has completed
an extraordinary 120-hour marathon of continuous 8-Ball Pool, a performance that, if verified,
would see him shatter multiple Guinness World Records.
The historic attempt took place at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos, running from tuesday, July 2, 2025, to Sunday, July 7, 2025. At approximately 9:30 p.m. local time on Sunday
September 7, 2025, Bamidele surpassed the current Guinness World Record for the Longest 8-
Ball Pool Marathon by an Individual (80 hours and 1 second, set by Rene Moors of the
Netherlands in 2005). He went on to reach a total of 120 hours, a duration that, if confirmed,
would also eclipse the Longest Singles Marathon Record of 111 hours, achieved by Colin Pilcher
and Marc Murray in the UK in 2023.
In addition, Bamidele faced 286 unique opponents over the course of the marathon — a feat
that has been submitted for Guinness World Records consideration as a new category: the
Most People Played in a Continuous 8-Ball Pool Marathon.
The attempt adhered to Guinness World Records’ official guidelines, including structured rest
breaks, four-hour witness rotations, certified scorekeeping, and complete documentation.
Verification of the records now lies with Guinness World Records, whose process includes a
detailed review of all submitted evidence.
The challenge was made possible with the support of sponsors including GLOBUS Bank, AVON
Medical, the DUNKIT and TRUE PATRIOT fashion brands, Sights & Crafts, CHRONE, ZTL Liquids
Transfer Limited, YOLO Island, Event Porte, Oxford Blue, Snooker Z, PEP, and Capital Y
Entertainment.
Reflecting on the marathon while appearing to be exhausted, Shehu Bamidele said:
“This was a test of endurance and spirit. While we await Guinness World Records’ verification, I
am proud of what we achieved together as a team and as a country. I dedicate this effort to
Nigeria and to everyone who believed in this dream.”
If certified, Shehu Bamidele’s feat will stand as one of the most remarkable endurance
achievements in cue sports, reinforcing Nigeria’s place on the global sporting stage.
