Organisers of the 10th Year Stephen Keshi memorial anniversary lecture, Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational Training Center SKFVTC, has been assured of Federal government backing of the upcoming Stephen Keshi memorial anniversary lecture scheduled to hold on 7th June 2026, the same day ten years ago on June 7, 2016, when Stephen Keshi passed away .
In a separate visit to the DG, and chairman of the National Sports Commission, Hon Bukola Olopade and Alhaji Shehu Dikko on the 15 and 17 of April 2026 by the Secretary of the SKFVTC, Comrade Austin Popo, on behalf of the SKFVTC board chairman, Dr Louis Brown Ogbeifun, the director general and chairman of NSC assured the SKFVTC of the federal government support in ensuring the successful hosting of the event which they described as honorable and befitting to an African Football’ legend worthy of celebration and significantly align with the federal government hope agenda
The 10th Stephen Keshi Memorial Anniversary lecture, endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF ) will hold at the main auditorium of the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) Victoria Island Lagos by 2.00 Pm.
The Theme of the lecture is
“Heroes of the Game: Celebrating African Football Legends for Tomorrow’s Aspirants,”
The lecture will focus on the place and impact of former players and legends, like Stephen Keshi, in inspiring the younger generation and supporting football development.
SKFVTC intention is to celebrate Stephen and honor his contributions to sports and society in fostering sportsmanship, youth empowerment, and national unity
The lecture is expected to draw influential personalities from various sectors, including sports, politics, academia, and business, including the General Secretary of CAF, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, the Lagos State governor as Chief Host, NFF President amongst others
In addition to the lecture, the event shall be offering Special Awards to outstanding individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the development of sports and community. This aligns with SKFVTC mission to encourage excellence and commitment to societal progress, reflecting the values that Stephen Keshi exemplified throughout his life.
