The Badagry Divisional Football Association (BDFA), in partnership with the RAK Development Foundation, has officially launched the sixth edition of the RAK League, reaffirming its commitment to grassroots football development across the Badagry Division and Lagos State.
The 2025/2026 edition, featuring both male and female categories, offers a total prize pool of ₦3 million, making it one of the biggest community football competitions in Lagos. The tournament is expected to engage youths from Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Ori-Ade, Iba, Ojo, Oto-Awori, Olorunda, Badagry West and Badagry Central, providing a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents.
Since its inception, the BDFA-RAK League has grown into a respected grassroots competition, producing talented players while promoting youth empowerment, social inclusion and community unity. The competition has continued to expand, with the introduction of the women’s category further strengthening opportunities for female footballers.
The sixth edition is expected to deepen football development by creating regular competitive matches, exposing young players to scouts, and encouraging clubs to invest more in talent discovery. It also complements the Lagos State Football Association’s vision of strengthening football from the grassroots level.
Beyond the competition for trophies, the RAK League has become a vehicle for positive social change. Through the support of the RAK Development Foundation and the leadership of BDFA, thousands of youths have been positively engaged, reducing social vices while inspiring dreams of professional football careers. The league has also contributed to the rise of clubs and players who have progressed to higher levels of Nigerian football.
As registration closes on July 30 and the draws take place on August 1, expectations are high that the sixth edition will further cement the RAK League’s reputation as one of Lagos’ premier grassroots football competitions, nurturing the next generation of stars while strengthening the football culture in Badagry and across the state.
