Under the visionary leadership of the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau MON, we further strengthened the inseparable bond between football, governance, entertainment, and cultural heritage with the official unveiling of the Motherland Heritage Cup in Lagos.
Scheduled to hold from November 6–16, 2026, the tournament will bring together seven national teams from across Africa, South America and the Caribbean, creating a unique platform for sporting excellence, cultural exchange, and international collaboration.
The occasion was further distinguished by the conferment of our prestigious Life Patron Honour on our revered father, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, OON, MON. We were also honoured to share the moment with football legends including Daniel Amokachi, Samson Siasia, and Waidi Akanni, alongside renowned actor Jim Iyke. Representing His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, was the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development Honorable Mobolaji Ogunlende.
The Motherland Heritage Cup is more than a football tournament; it is a celebration of sport, leadership, culture, and identity. It will serve as a powerful platform connecting football, politics, and heritage while showcasing Nigeria’s capacity to unite people and nations through the beautiful game.
