    Mounting pressure and widespread criticism have reportedly forced Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President to resign, marking a dramatic moment in Nigerian football.

    The development follows growing dissatisfaction among stakeholders over the state of the game, particularly after the Super Falcons’ disappointing failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The setback intensified calls for accountability and major reforms within the federation.

    Stakeholders, former players and football fans had continued to criticise the NFF leadership, pointing to recent failures of Nigeria’s national teams and demanding a new direction for the country’s football administration.

    Gusau’s reported resignation now signals a potentially major turning point, with many hoping the development will open the door to comprehensive reforms and a fresh start for Nigerian football.
