The much-anticipated Navaney Foundation and St. Mary All Stars Above 40 League 2nd edition officially kicked off on Saturday in a colorful and exciting fashion, marked by a vibrant opening ceremony and an entertaining first match.
The curtain-raiser saw host team St. Mary All Stars go head-to-head with Apapa/Iganmu All Stars in a thrilling encounter that lived up to expectations. Fans and dignitaries present were treated to an action-packed game, as both sides displayed impressive skill, experience, and passion for the game despite being in the veterans’ category.
At the final whistle, St. Mary All Stars edged past their opponents with a narrow 3-1 victory. The match was filled with moments of brilliance, as goals came from well-coordinated team play and individual flashes of quality. Apapa/Iganmu All Stars fought bravely and kept the contest alive until the closing stages, but St. Mary’s resilience ensured they claimed the historic first win of the tournament.

In the quest to bring in more participation on other sports event, the organizers in this 2nd edition is continuing with the draught competition, monkey post 5*5 aside tournament, short distance race for individuals above 40 to 60 years. Cash prize for football ranges from 500,000 to 100,000 and for other competions within the fun fare 200,000, down wards.
