The 10th anniversary celebration of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation Nigeria (OIF Nigeria) is more than a milestone; it is a celebration of a decade of advocacy, compassion and transformative support for children and families living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI).
The anniversary, themed around Hope, Strength and Resilience, provides an opportunity to reflect on the impact of sustained efforts to improve the lives of children affected by the condition, which is commonly associated with fragile bones and complex healthcare needs.
Over the years, initiatives focused on awareness, family support, healthcare access, mobility assistance, physical therapy and inclusion have helped bring greater attention to the needs of children living with OI. The foundation’s work also helps families better understand the condition while encouraging society to look beyond disability and recognise the abilities and potential of affected children.
A major highlight of the 2026 anniversary programme is the provision of mobility support and wheelchairs for eligible beneficiaries following assessment, reinforcing the importance of independence, dignity and participation.
The September 12 gala and awards celebration in Lagos will also honour individuals and organisations contributing to advocacy, healthcare, research, accessibility and humanitarian service.
For OIF Nigeria, ten years represents not an ending, but a renewed commitment to ensuring that every child living with OI has hope, dignity, opportunity and a more inclusive future.
