The battle for places in the Round of 16 of the 1XCUP 2026 has entered a decisive phase, with teams across Groups A-F fighting for automatic qualification and the four available best-third-place slots.
The competition rules are simple: the top two teams in each group advance automatically, while the four best third-placed sides join them in the Round of 16.
In Group A, Vido 99 FC lead with five points and remain unbeaten, while Emiloju FC occupy second with four points. JP Young Stars, unbeaten after three draws, sit third on three points and remain in contention for a best-third-place ticket.
BYT Academical are bottom on two points and have been eliminated.
Group B has Newhope Naija FC safely through with seven points and an impressive defensive record of zero goals conceded. Kiraa FA have two points from two games and need at least a draw in their final match to secure second place. Crusaders FC, also on two points, must now wait on results elsewhere, while Divine Praise FC need victory over Kiraa to revive their qualification hopes.
In Group C, Ajuwa FA lead with four points and a +4 goal difference. Joy Cometh FC are second on three points, while Tonic FC remain dangerous on two. Mega 22 FC, with one point, face a must-win final match.
Group D has 36 Lion FC sitting comfortably on six points and already assured of progression. Maryland United and Ighalo FA, both on three points, are separated by goal difference, while Crystal FC need victory to keep their campaign alive.
In Group E, Young Strikers FC have maximum six points and have already secured qualification. Inspire SA and Dynamic FC are locked on three points, although Inspire’s superior goal difference gives them an advantage. Ama Smile FC must produce a major turnaround.
Group F features another perfect leader in Collins Edwin SC, who have six points, six goals scored and none conceded. Aux FC and Elite Stars FC are both on three points, with Aux ahead on goal difference. ECAS FA remain bottom without a goal.
With qualification still hanging in the balance for several clubs, every remaining fixture now carries enormous significance. The road to the Round of 16 is getting hotter, and one goal could change everything.
