The 2026 1XCup continued to captivate football lovers on Friday as the Lagos Island Zone produced another memorable round of matches, with goals, excitement and quality football taking centre stage at the Inspire Sport Arena.

The opening match saw Bethel Sporting edge Dreamers FC 2-1 in a fiercely contested encounter. Bethel showed great composure to hold on for all three points despite a spirited fightback from Dreamers FC.

In another exciting fixture, Collins Edwin FC produced a commanding performance to defeat Prince Kazeem Eletu FC 3-1. Their clinical finishing and disciplined defending ensured they emerged worthy winners while sending a strong message to other contenders.

One of the most entertaining matches of the day saw 36 Lion FC overcome FC Middlewell 3-2 in a five-goal thriller. Both sides entertained the spectators with attacking football, but 36 Lion FC displayed greater resilience to secure maximum points.

The final game of the day was equally dramatic as G12 FC edged Goal Getters FC 3-2 in another pulsating encounter. The match swung from end to end before G12 FC sealed victory in front of enthusiastic supporters.

With four matches producing 11 goals, the Lagos Island Zone showcased the depth of football talent within the state. Players thrilled fans with dazzling skills, quick passing combinations, clinical finishing and resolute defending, while goalkeepers also made several outstanding saves to keep their teams in contention.
