Emiloju FC have secured their place in the Round of 16 of the 1XCup 2026, after holding JP Young Stars FC to a goalless draw in a tense Group A finale. The result took Emiloju to four points, enough to advance from a fiercely contested group.
The encounter was a tactical battle, with both sides showing discipline and refusing to give away the spaces that could have changed the game. Emiloju’s organisation and defensive patience proved important, while JP Young Stars displayed remarkable doggedness despite needing a positive result.
Elsewhere in Group A, Vido 99 FC and BYT Academical FC played out a thrilling 2-2 draw, a result that reflected the intensity of the group. Vido’s attacking quality was matched by BYT’s resilience, with neither side willing to surrender despite the pressure.
In Group B, Newhope Naija FC defeated Crusaders FC 1-0, producing another example of how tactical discipline and concentration can decide tight group-stage matches.
With every point now carrying enormous weight, the 1XCup has entered its most gripping phase. The games are no longer simply about playing attractive football—they are about game management, tactical discipline, courage and the ability to survive pressure.
